Sahyadri Classic is now ‘Arkade Sahyadri Classic’

We are pleased to introduce Arkade as our Title sponsor for Sahyadri Classic Third Edition.

The #ThirdEdition of Arkade Sahyadri Classic will be organised on Saturday 27th November 2021.

Most of the format remains the same as that of the first edition, with a few tweaks.

 

DATE: 27th November 2021
START: Base of pasarni ghat, Wai
DISTANCE: 190 km and 99 km
FORMAT: Time Trial, with the climbing time for the ghats will be considered. All participants must finish the ride within 14 hours.
FINISH: Mahabaleshwar
BIB DISTRIBUTION: 26th November 2021, Wai.

RACE ROUTE AND CLIMB SEQUENCE: 
 
For the third edition, the 2 Ghats Challenge categories will actually be climbing 3 Ghats, and the 4 Ghats categories will be climbing 5 Ghats. (Category names will not be changed) 

The first climb is Pasarni ghat, with a Competitive Section of 9.7kms. The second climb is Ulta Bhilar, with a Competitive Section of 14 kms, while the third climb is Medha Climb, with a Competitive Section of 16 kms. Total distance for 2 Ghats Challenge is 98.9kms and the Elevation Gain is 1977m.

The Initial part for the 4 Ghats Challenge categories is similar to that of the 2 Ghats categories.

After completing the same route as that of 2 ghats categories, the 4 Ghats categories will climb up Tapola, which has a Competitive Section of 25.3 kms, after which the fifth and the final climb is that of Medha ghat again, with the same Competitive Section of 16 kms. Total distance for 4 Ghats Challenge is 190 kms and the Elevation Gain is 3481m.

Even to complete 4 Ghat Challenge in 14 hrs for amateurs is challenging and big achievement by it self!
2 Ghat Challenge will also be quite tough the seasoned riders.
 
Format is broadly based on La Marmotte in French Alps with some changes for Indian condition.
Only climbing time will be considered and descent time will be given to rider to ride down through ‘Ghats’
Routes and other details will follow soon.
 
All bikes will be allowed (except e-bikes). Drafting behind vehicles is not allowed. Needless to say, helmets are compulsory.
 
Please note: This is a self supported event. Participants will not be allowed to accept aid from friends and/or family members. We will have stipulated on-route check points/ hydration points.
 
Categories with more than 10 participants will only be considered as racing categories. No categories will be merged with other categories under any circumstances.
